Just Another Thai Wedding

The groom gets his wallet stolen by a lady boy in Phuket during his buck's night. (No sympathy there.) One wedding guest is ban from going to Phuket for the buck's night. ("For all I care, you can have a stripper in our hotel room, but you're still not going to Phuket," says his wife.)
The wedding is held on the beach.

The bride is dressed in a slinky Ruth Tarvydas dress, and the bridesmaids are dressed in fuscia chiffon. The groom is in grey and wears white sneakers.

The rest of us girls don floaty maxi dresses and sandals.

My dress? A find in a Budapest vintage store, a bit of a find as the dress is originally a Kenzo number. :)

We all bring umbrellas, but thankfully it doesn't rain.

The best man is demoted by a monkey as the ring bearer.

There's Moet and Bollinger to drink and fresh oysters (Thai style) to eat. I don't drink - (I'm still trying to work out how to convince my aunt to open that bottle of dom pe).

I am annoyingly hearded to catch the bouquet and immediately dodge as it comes towards me. Annoying idiot boys are shoved towards me because I am "single". I tell everyone that I don't "do" country boys and insult 50% of the wedding guest population.

Pendulum is played, and the elderly wedding guests escape. The Prodigy's "Smack my Bitch Up" is also played - not particularly appropriate for a wedding, but hey, it's all fun. We all end up jumping into the pool and the groom strips down to his jocks.

All in all, it's just another Thai wedding...........

Okay, no more weddings please......All the girls keep on rabbiting on about relationships, and to be quite frank, I am sick of it. There are a lot more interesting things to talk about..... Stop talking around in circles.

Postscript in Samui:

Just me and my sweet lil' coconut, Fisherman's Village, Bophut.

Fish sticks (literally) @ Fisherman's Village, Bophut.

Coconut icecream @ Fisherman's Village, Bophut.

I didn't buy anything as I didn't see anything that I particularly wanted to bargain for. Bargaining is exhausting in Ko Samui as the store owners don't seem particularly motivated to make a sale, much preferring to watch tv/talk on their mobile phone/sit in front of their laptop. They seem to think that it's perfectly reasonable to have a starting price of $50AUS for a flimsy sun dress and frequently refuse to budge on the price...... Who are they kidding? As J. said, "All this bargaining is a pain in the baht."

The party's at the coconut tree, Chaweng beach.

Ali's - the best restaurant in town. Authentic Thai curries for 45 baht - bargain!

Petrol in a bottle, 40 baht

Weigh yourself for 1 baht. I weighed myself (for free) with the hotel weighing scales and found that between stepping on the scales at the GP in London and now, I have put on a whopping five kilos..... That's it, it's diet time for real.......
