Paris Fourth Time Around

Paris fourth time around is....

1. Taking photos of ordinary things that have an element of photographic intrigue, instead of the usual touristy monuments.

2. Knowing that whatever day or time of year, there is always some sort of strike or protest happening in Paris.
(Below: Protest around the Republique about.....?human rights in Sri lanka...?)

The question I have for people is: Are they speaking in French with a Sri Lankan accent, purely in Sri Lankan, or doing a combination of the two? (Somehow, they just don't quite sound French....)

3. Invader spotting all around town

4. Stopping by the best falafel shop in the Jewish Quarter (L'As du Falaffel, 34 rue des Rosiers) only to stumble across yet another invader.

5. Walking by the Asian "Mothership" to take photos of her "children " hovering around the entrance.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again; stereotypes exist for a reason.

6. Wandering across the road from LV with the intention of buying take away coffee from Forquet's (I still have fond memories of the wonderful dinner with French champagne and that chocolate dessert with the (real) gold flakes, courtesy of GSK circa Jan 2007,)

....and then changing my mind when i saw that coffee was priced at 10 euros. I mean, sure, I can afford that, but paying $20AUS for a stupid cup of coffee? You've got to be kidding. It better come with gold flakes for that price, too. And a maid and butler.
Instead, I took a wander down to Rue Montorgueil and had a (slightly) cheaper cappucino for the price of 5 euros.

The taste was as smooth as nectar so for the price of 5 euros vs 3 euros in Ireland for a burnt coffee, I'll let it go.

7. Trying to convince myself that I should really, really, REALLY make a trip to the Palace of Versailles, and managing to psych myself into going early Friday morning...only to find out that it was a bank holiday which meant everything including museums were closed. (Good thing I found out before I made my way there.)

Thankfully, La Maison Stohrer (famed Patisserie shop) on Rue Montorgueil (and also everything else on that coffee strip,) was opened. I ate until I was all tarted out :p
