Spring is Here!
....Although more so in London than in Ireland. I had a few days last weekend in London without my big coat. Over here, the wind cuts right through you. But still, it was gloriously sunny today, so I took advantage of the fine weather, blew the dust off my very unused sunglasses and had a quick wander through town.
I swear I'm not being paranoid when I say that people openly stop to stare at me. Mr Nosey Parker (ie: the elderly neighbour) still does this occasionally.
What I wore today:
Sky Blue Trench Coat: Dunnes of all stores. This is like the Irish equivalent to K-Mart back in Oz. Who knew they could be so fashionable?
The trench coat is the one thing I'm loving that's in this season. I'm not one for classics - they tend to border on boring, and I also think the camel/beige on my skin tone makes me look like I'm naked. Brilliant sky blue suits me fine.
Coral Flower Fascinator: H&M, London
Sunglasses: Chloe
Purple Stripey Scarf: Avoca, Belfast. This is like the nicest boutiquey lifestyle store in Ireland. It has a Cath Kidston sort of vibe (http://www.cathkidston.co.uk) but is extremely over priced.
Dark Grey Cotton Tights: Primark, London
Brown Cowboy Boots: Benetton, London
The Vibe: Scandinavian cool. Every time I see articles on Scandinavian street fashion, everybody seems to be in array of lovely lollipop colours. Must be to make up for the lack of sunshine during the winter months. That's one thing I don't understand about seasonal fashion. Why are winter clothes always so dark and dreary when the weather is already dreary? Surely we need some pop in colour to compensate for the lack of sunshine.
The grey shorts and layered tops I'm wearing are a combination from Gap, H&M and Primark. (Probably not worth mentioning seeing that they aren't visible from the photo.)
